• NC State LIVE: NC State student registration opens for the NC State LIVE @ the Lot concert (October 23) featuring Rissi Palmer. 9am.

• University Theatre: Out Loud series. Reading Hype Man by Idris Goodwin. 7pm.

• University Theatre: Devised 2020. Phase II: Generation of Material. Join Lormarev Jones as she introduces participating students to the conception of original work through ensemble devising. 7pm. Students only.

Tuesday, October 13

• Gregg Museum: Galleries open 10am-5pm. Free timed ticket required.

• University Theatre: How to Theatre series. Old age makeup. Join Laura Parker to learn how to research and apply aging makeup for the stage. 1pm.

• University Theatre: Strictly Speaking series. Quentin Fears started his career in the tents of New York’s Fashion Week. He’s now a celebrity stylist, art director, fashion host and editor based in Los Angeles. 6pm.

• University Theatre: Devised 2020. Phase II: Generation of Material. Join Lormarev Jones as she introduces participating students to the conception of original work through ensemble devising. 7pm. Students only.

• Gregg Museum: Galleries open 10am-5pm. Free timed ticket required.

• NC State LIVE: Faculty/staff and public registration opens for the NC State LIVE @ the Lot concert (October 23) featuring Rissi Palmer. 9am.

• Dance Program: Lunchbox Series. Why I Trashed the Trophies: How to Make Meaningful Disruption in Your Life with Chasta Hamilton. 12pm. (registration closes at 10am)

• University Theatre: How to Theatre series. Painting stone. Join Jayme Mellema in looking at a variety of paint techniques for achieving a selection of basic stone textures. 4pm.

• University Theatre: Strictly Speaking series. Stephanie Umoh is a New York-based actor playing the role of Angelica on the national tour of Hamilton, and played Sarah in the 2009 Broadway revival of Ragtime. 7pm.

Thursday, October 15

• First day for early voting in Talley Student Union.

• Gregg Museum: Galleries open 10am-5pm. Free timed ticket required.

• Gregg Museum: Virtual artist talk and exhibition walk-through with sculptor and photographer Stephen Althouse. His exhibition, Objects of Intention, is now open now at the Gregg. 4pm.

• NC State LIVE: #PackPops performance on Stafford Commons by violinist Jennifer Curtis. 4:30pm.

• University Theatre: Strictly Speaking series. Jenny Ely is a project manager for ILMxLAB, Lucasfilm Ltd.’s immersive entertainment studio based in San Francisco. 6pm.

• University Theatre: Out Loud series. Reading of Heritage (revised) by Griffin James, honorable mention for the 2020 Creative Artist Award. 7pm.

Friday, October 16

• Gregg Museum: Galleries open 10am-5pm. Free timed ticket required.

• University Theatre: Preparing the Performer series. Rachel Klem works with students on dialects. 1pm. Students only.

• University Theatre: The Institute. A new project that aims to introduce students, and eventually audiences, to site-specific, interactive and immersive storytelling experiences. 4pm.

Saturday, October 17

• Football: Duke (home). 3:30pm.

• The new online FAMILY FUN series at the @NC State University Crafts Center is ideal for groups or families with children ages 8+. Crafts activities include wood projects, origami, Zentangle jack-o’-lanterns, tie-dyeing, quilling, and journal making.

• Early voting starts Thursday, October 15: The Talley Student Union early voting site will be open daily, October 15-31. The site is open to all Wake County residents. There will be plenty of free parking in the bays beside Reynolds Coliseum. See hours and all details.

• The jazz students in the Department of Music are building quite a collection on Soundcloud. The latest addition is the Duke Ellington/Billy Strayhorn classic, “Satin Doll,” recorded remotely in fall 2020 by students in the NC State Jazz Lab Band, directed by Jason Foureman.

• It’s time to stretch your craft muscles! Explore both online and in-person classes available this fall at The Crafts Center.

• Dance Spirit: How Social Dance Can Benefit Your Training – and Your Humanity. Francine Ott, dance lecturer and artistic director of the Panoramic Dance Project, is featured.

• Technician: The University lost no money after Packapalooza cancellation. While Packapalooza couldn’t happen this year, NC State looks forward to the return of this traditional back-to-school street festival in August 2021.
