Miriam Bailey Gardner Music Scholarship

Miriam Bailey Gardner graduated from the College of Natural Resources with a degree in conservation and pursued a successful, trailblazing career at the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service. Though Miriam’s career was in agriculture, she learned to strengthen her professional life through music while at NC State. For Miriam, music was always a vital source of joy, expression, and community. As long as she was able Miriam served as a prominent figure in her local music community, participating in both choirs and ensembles and performing regularly. Established by her husband Bill, the Miriam Bailey Gardner Scholarship Endowment will honor her legacy as an alumnus and celebrate her lifelong love of music.

Why Give

Many musically talented and academically deserving prospective students and their families struggle to afford the cost of attending NC State. The Miriam Bailey Gardner Scholarship Endowment will both honor Miriam and support student-musicians by:

1.  Recruiting exceptional students who want to pursue music while majoring in any department

2.  Mitigating financial concerns that may prevent students from continuing to participate in music throughout college

3.  Developing student leaders in the ensembles
