Student Art Sale Submission Rules and Resources
Submission Rules
In-Person Sales
- Arts NC State will serve as the intermediary between the student and buyer. If you sell your work in-person, you will be responsible for accepting payment (we recommend reading this article and signing up for a Square account and free credit card reader to accept payments from people who may not have Venmo or cash apps).
- You will apply for a space to sell your work on the online application form.
- Criteria for acceptance will include whether you have sold your work in the past, how many pieces you have available, and your level of experience.
- If you are accepted, you will be assigned a table, which you may share with another artist depending on how much work you have to sell. You will have the option to rent easels from us for free.
- You or a designated representative will have to be at your booth during the entire event.
- 1-4 p.m. for the 2025 sale at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design.
- Artwork must be priced at $600 or less.
- If you feel strongly that your work should be priced over $600, you need approval from the manager of the sale
- Information about pricing your art here: go.ncsu.edu/priceyourart
- Reminder: NC State has trademark licenses on the Tuffy Head logo and NC State block logo. You cannot replicate these for sale. Read more here: https://trademarks.ncsu.edu/
- We heavily suggested that you have your work framed/matted and ready to hang, to make the work more appealing to buyers. If you are unable to provide a ready-to-hang piece, that will not exclude you from participating in the sale — just make sure you make it clear in the descriptions of your work at both the in-person and virtual sale what people are buying so there is no confusion.
Virtual Sale
- You have the option to participate in the Virtual Sale. It is not mandatory.
- Each student will submit up to 3 pieces of artwork that we will display on our student art sale online landing page gallery.
- Buyers will be able to click on the image of the art, which will take them to the student’s online shop. Each student agrees to guarantee delivery of art upon payment.
- You must sell your artwork via an online platform like Etsy, ArtFire, Ebay, etc.

Visual Artist Award
Arts NC State received a generous gift to create a Visual Artist Award in 2017. A judge with input from a panel of Arts NC State employees and students will select one 2D piece, one 3D piece and one computer rendered or photography piece from the sale to receive these awards. The student artists will receive a $500 cash award, their pieces will hang in a prominent display case in the Talley Student Union near Stewart Theater for the following academic year, and they will be honored at an annual ceremony.
The Visual Artist Award is made possible by the Roxanne Hicklin Visual Artist Award Endowment and Arts NC State.
STUDENT ARTISTS: The work you submit in your application will be automatically entered to win the Visual Artist Award.
