Lucky Plush Productions will work with the NCSU Dance Company

Lucky Plush Productions, a renowned dance-theater company based in Chicago, will be in residence with the NCSU Dance Company Sept. 8–11 to set an excerpt from the dance piece Cinderbox 2.0, to be presented at NC State in the Dance Program Fall Concert on November 16-17 in Stewart Theatre.

Together with the American Dance Festival and the NC State Dance Program, NC State LIVE will also offer a week of activities for the NC State community and the public, including the Devising Dance/Theatre Master Class open and free to NC State students, faculty and staff. The residency will culminate in a free work-in-progress performance on Friday, Sept. 15 at 8:00 p.m. in Stewart Theatre.

Since its founding in 2000, Lucky Plush has created 30 original dance-theater works including 12 evening-length productions. In addition to regularly performing in Chicago, the company has presented work in over 40 U.S. cities from Maine to Hawaii, and its international partners span from New Zealand to Cuba.

Lucky Plush Productions is the first and only dance company to receive the prestigious MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, a recognition of the company’s exceptional creativity and impact.

Wednesday, September 13, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Open to all NC State students, faculty and staff | FREE

Following a simple warm-up that includes improvisation and vocal exercises, participants will be led through a collaborative devising process in which they turn actions, movements and stories into short group compositions. The workshop will culminate in a very informal sharing of participants’ dance-theater experiments. Designed for intermediate to experienced dancers and actors.
