• University Theatre: Out Loud series. Join Mia Self for a reading of Native Pride (and Prejudice) by Vera Starbard (Part 1). Set in Alaska, this modern adaption of Jane Austen’s classic romantic comedy takes on the complexities of love, Alaskan Native corporations, and federal blood quantum. 7pm.

Tuesday, February 16

• Gregg Museum: Get your free timed ticket on Eventbrite and explore the three current exhibitions. Galleries open 10am-5pm.

• University Theatre: How to Theatre. Wig Styling Basics: In this virtual session, Laura Parker will offer suggestions on how to prep your hair for wigs, how to put on and wear a wig, how to care for a pre-styled wig, and basic styling methods/techniques. 4:30pm.

• University Theatre: Strictly Speaking. Event producer, talent envoy and company manager Stephanie Trigg has a long working relationship with Sleep No More, a sublime New York immersive theatre experience that tells the story of Macbeth through a film noir lens. 6pm.

• University Theatre: Auditions for Static by Aysia Slade and Devised 2020. In-person and virtual auditions are available. University Theatre auditions are open to all currently enrolled NC State students. 8pm.

Wednesday, February 17

• Gregg Museum: Get your free timed ticket on Eventbrite and explore the three current exhibitions. Galleries open 10am-5pm.  

• NC State LIVE: Choreographers with Cocktails and Mocktails. Join Eduardo Vilaro, artistic director of Ballet Hispánico, for a happy hour watch party to view and discuss Danzón, a joyous dance from Ballet Hispánico’s iconic repertory. NC State alumna Daniela Patino-Zabaleta will moderate the discussion. 5:30pm (noon registration deadline).

• Gregg Museum: Third Thursday Virtual Tour. Interact with the art at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design as staff member Christina Wytko Marchington leads an in-depth, virtual guided tour of the exhibitions. You’ll be able to ask questions about exhibitions in real time. 4pm.

• University Theatre: How to Theatre. Table Saw and Crosscut Saws: Join Dave Jensen and Mike White for an IN-PERSON workshop to learn the basics of the two saws used most often in the scene shop. Registration is limited to eight students per session. 4:30pm.

• University Theatre: Strictly Speaking. UNCG alum Seth Starr is a lighting test specialist for ETC (Electronic Theatre Controls), an international leader in events lighting technology. 6pm.

• Dance Program: Virtual master class. Beginning belly dance with Li Marcus: Join Li via Zoom for shimmies, hip drops, and more as you learn to match classic belly dance movements to Egyptian rhythms. No dance experience required. 6pm.

• University Theatre: The Institute. This new project aims to introduce students, and eventually audiences, to site specific, interactive and immersive storytelling experiences. Learn more and register. 4pm.

• University Theatre: UT After Party. A monthly event for NC State students to meet up with fellow students interested in theatre. Register at go.ncsu.edu/utafterparty. 7pm. (Students only)

• University Theatre: UT Revisited: A Zoom reunion of the cast and crew of University Theatre’s August 2005 production of Follies. 8pm.

• The Gregg Museum of Art & Design has a new e-commerce store with catalogues for exhibitions that originated at the Gregg.

• Musical Empowerment at NC State – a student organization that provides free music lessons to children – is hosting Strike A Chord, an open mic night on Instagram Live on Thursday, February 18 at 7pm. Sign up to participate on this Google form.

• In-person classes are underway at the Crafts Center. Check the last chance list for both in-person and online classes in February that might still have space available.
