• In 2012, NC State student Michael Seebold received the Arts NC State Creative Artist Award in theatre for his original play, The Spyglass Seven, a work that features the ghost of poet and author Edgar Allan Poe returning from the grave at the behest of his muse, Beauty. The play was staged by University Theatre in 2013. On Sunday, October 4, a staged reading of the play was the closing performance of the 2020 International Edgar Allan Poe Festival. NC State alumna Diana Quetti joined the cast for the project, reprising her role as Beauty in the 2013 production. Back in January, Michael Seebold was in Raleigh for a screening of his film, Enoptromancy, or When We Meet As One. That project was a family effort that included his brothers Patrick (also an NC State alum) and Kevin (currently a senior in the Wilson College of Textiles). Amy Sawyers-Williams interviewed the Seebold brothers in advance of that showing at the Rialto Theatre.
