Virtual Sale

Continue shopping online!

Visit our online gallery which will showcase students who are participating the virtual sale.

How the virtual sale works:

  • You will click on the image you are interested in, read more about the student and the types of pieces they create. You can also see whether they are open to commissions.
  • Click on a link that will take you to the student’s online shop (Etsy, ArtFire, Ebay etc) or contact them at the info provided.
  • From there, you will see whether the art has sold, and you will be able to purchase and/or interact with the students. Some students will be shipping your art and some will be delivering it to your doorstep.

Don’t fret if the work you see in the Flickr gallery is sold out—most artists are open to commissions. Email them if you’d like a similar piece as to what is sold (their emails are listed on their Flickr gallery).

How the Sale Works

  • We will accept a maximum of 75 students artists.
  • Student artists must submit the application by Friday, April 4, which includes up to 3 samples of your best pieces of art.
  • You will be contacted with more information and instructions for selling your artwork at the in-person sale.
  • After the in-person sale ends, Arts NC State will display all art on our Flickr gallery and activate the virtual art sale.

In-Person Art Sale

This year’s event will take place outdoors, under a large tent on the front lawn of the Gregg Museum. Each seller will receive a table location and a chair. We will have some easels you can borrow, but you are also encouraged to bring supplies to help you display your artwork in a pleasing way at your table. Sellers must be able to accept their own payments through a cash app, such as Venmo or PayPal or credit card reader, such as Square. Arts NC State will not provide a means of accepting payments — we only serve as the event organizer to connect you with potential buyers.

More details can be found in the application.

Virtual Art Sale

Students can showcase their art online through our Arts NC State Flickr gallery. Though some of the images you see may not still be for sale, you can find the student’s website in the image description, and many of the students are open to commissions.

Please email the sale manager (artsncstate@ncsu.edu) with questions.

Visual Artist Award

Arts NC State received a generous gift to create a Visual Artist Award in 2017. A judge with input from a panel of Arts NC State employees and students will select one 2D piece, one 3D piece, and one computer rendered or photography piece from the sale to receive these awards.

  • The student artists will receive a $500 cash award, their pieces will hang in a prominent display case in the Talley Student Union near Stewart Theater for the following academic year, and they will be honored at an annual ceremony.

Program History

Permanent Collection Purchases

Since 2001, a committee of staff, students and local artists have selected original artwork of NC State students for Arts NC State to purchase, with the collection to date holding more than 200 pieces of original student art. This art is then displayed in Talley Student Union or select locations on campus.

Open to the Public

With only select pieces purchased by Arts NC State, we realized there was a need to open up the sale to the public. This public sale started in 2015, with $3,000 of student art sold that year. All proceeds go directly to the these student artists. In 2019, Arts NC State sold over $13,000 worth of student art.

In 2020, the public sale moved online due to COVID-19, but still made over $10,000 for these student artists.
The Student Art Sale has raised over $70,000 for student artists since its inception, making a real impact on their lives and careers. Join us and invest in the future of the arts!
