Gregg Museum of Art & Design: Mindfulness in the Museum: Yoga in the gardens from 11AM-12PM.

The Mindfulness in the Museum series offers a place for attendees to experience relaxation, cultivate community, and enjoy the beauty of art. For this session of the series, Dean Self, a YMCA instructor, will lead a yoga class in the Gregg Museum’s gardens. Bring a yoga mat, water bottle and dress comfortably. This monthly event is open to students and the general public.

Gregg Museum of Art & Design: Bryant Holsenbeck Workshop: Wrapping Wild .10AM-12PM

Making imaginary animals out of textiles and other materials. Workshop in conjunction with BABENGA– The Sacred Forest, Registration is required. More information to follow. 

Gregg Museum of Art & Design: Mix & Mingle Open House 4:30-7:30PM

You’re invited to a Mix and Mingle Open House at The Gregg Museum of Art and Design. Come celebrate The Gregg’s past, present and envision its future. Meet the museum’s new director, Sara Segerlin, who will deliver opening remarks at 5:45 pm. The event will commence with live music in the lobby, and culminate at 6:45 pm with a spoken word gallery performance inspired by the exhibition “Material Messages: The Tales that Textiles Tell.” 

Explore the entire museum, including the outdoor garden, the house’s permanent collection, and the exhibition “BABENGA—Sacred Forest.”  Complimentary light bites and refreshments will be provided.  The event is open to the general public, NC State students, and faculty.

Gregg Museum of Art & Design: Beginners Weaving Workshop 1-3PM.

Learn basic tapestry weaving techniques and foundational weave structures to create your own mini-tapestry. The workshop will be led by Kate Nartker, an Assistant Professor at the Wilson College of Textiles at NC State. Handheld looms and yarns will be provided. Registration is required for the event.
