Wednesday, March 29

• Department of Performing Arts and Technology: The Lunchbox Series. Join author Monica West and choreographer Tara Mullins for “The Creative Process: A Novel as an Inspiration for Choreography.” West and Mullins will discuss how West’s debut novel, Revival Season, inspired Mullins to create a new dance that will premiere in the upcoming State Dance Company concert (April 6 and 7). 12 to 12:45 p.m. (virtual event). Registration required to get a Zoom link.

Thursday, March 30

• Gregg Museum of Art & Design: Artist talk with Kameron Neal. A video artist, performance-maker, and multidisciplinary designer based in New York City, Neal will visit the Gregg to discuss his video work featured in the True Likeness exhibition. 6 p.m.

• University Theatre: Muse by Gaven Bell. Winner of the 2022 Creative Artist Award, Muse is a contemporary rendition of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth that explores the relationship between art and science as Finn, a microbiologist, grieves the loss of Eurydice, the artist no longer by his side. 7:30 p.m. in Kennedy-McIlwee Studio Theatre (day 1 of 4).

• University Theatre: Muse by Gaven Bell. Winner of the 2022 Creative Artist Award, Muse is a contemporary rendition of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth that explores the relationship between art and science as Finn, a microbiologist, grieves the loss of Eurydice, the artist no longer by his side. 7:30 p.m. in Kennedy-McIlwee Studio Theatre (day 2 of 4).

• NC State LIVE: CONTRA-TIEMPO and Arturo O’Farrill. Two world premieres in one evening in celebration of the 50th anniversary of NC State LIVE, created by Cuban American choreographer Ana Maria Alvarez and multiple Grammy Award-winning Afro Latin jazz composer and pianist Arturo O’Farrill. 8 p.m. in Stewart Theatre.

Saturday, April 1

• Department of Performing Arts and Technology: NC State’s Raleigh Civic Chamber Orchestra performs the world premiere of two new works inspired by cycles of the natural world: Nowruz by composer Adeliia Faizullina, and ao kuewa by Pulitzer Prize finalist Leilehua Lanzilotti. The program includes French works by composers Augusta Holmès and Arthur Honegger, and the joyous Dances of Marosszék by Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály. 4 p.m. in Stewart Theatre.

• Feeling astonished is a cool sensation. Rich Holly’s latest “Our Life in The Arts” blog post focuses on experiencing marvel.

• Biological sciences senior Gaven Bell is the first two-time winner of the Creative Artist Award in theatre. Her latest play, Muse, will premiere this week. Learn about her experiences with developing a new play in University Theatre’s Wright Way program in this news post.

• NC State LIVE has announced the lineup for the 2023 LIVE @ Lake Raleigh series. The free outdoor concerts begin on Thursday, April 6.

• Robert Bagby, a student member of the FANS board and an intern with the arts outreach and engagement office, is taking advantage of NC State’s student abroad opportunities this semester. This is the second installment in a series about the art Robert encounters in the Czech Republic, Germany and England.

• Rhythm and Flow: The Black Students Board presents a poetry workshop led by spoken word artist Nick Courmon. Talley Student Union, Room 3221, 5 p.m. Register here. Courmon will perform in One Earth Lounge at 8 p.m.

• Crafting Resilience: Prevention Services and University Libraries provide experiential opportunities to engage in self-care through crafting. Tuesday, March 28, 2 to 3:30 p.m.

• Books and Hooks is a beginner-friendly, student-led program hosted by the African American Cultural Center Library to honor National Crafts month. Students, faculty and staff will start stitching a scarf while talking about literature and libraries. Registration required. Wednesday, March 29 at 5 p.m. in the Witherspoon Student Center Library.

• WKNC’s Local Lunch Live is back on Thursdays at the Corner on Centennial Campus, presented in partnership with Visit Centennial to showcase student performers. March 30, 12 to 1 p.m.

• The CRANE Collective at NC State will present Patchworks: Asian Artist Showcase, highlighting Asian artists from North Carolina. Friday, March 31, 6 to 9 p.m. in the Talley Student Union Piedmont-Mountains Ballroom. See ticket details.
